Week 10 Update

As another very busy and successful term comes to an end, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the LNPS staff and students on completing a successful first semester of 2023.

Modern schooling is very different from when many of us went to school. From 8:50 to 3:10 our students are engaged in extremely exciting and challenging levels of learning. It can be intense and demanding, however, our teachers create innovative and exciting learning experiences which in turn are very rewarding. This is due to the high levels of literacy, numeracy and learner qualities that our students will need to navigate the modern world. At this time of the year, it is pleasing and rewarding to see all staff and students continue to demonstrate the Pursuit of Excellence and resilience.

We hope that everyone takes the time to relax and rejuvenate during the winter holiday break, spending time with family and loved ones.

End of Term Assembly

This Friday we have our final assembly for the term.

Assembly will begin at 1:10pm and conclude at 2:00pm. Students will then return to class at the completion of assembly for an early dismissal at 2:10pm.

Community Engagement

One of the cornerstones of our school is the strong sense of community that is continuing to be reintroduced after the impact of COVID.

This term, we have witnessed numerous acts of kindness, and compassion. From fundraising for local charities to organising inclusive school-based activities, our students have shown a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on the world.

The Governing Council Parent Engagement Committee has worked hard to connect families with the school and other parents. This term they have held a highly successful Movie Night with 150 parents and students attending. Fantastic fundraising effort. We made a profit of $1361. Great work everyone. The Coffee Catch-up in Tirkandi last week with 24 parents attending. Well done everyone!

Next term the Committee is hosting the LNPS Quiz Night - A ay at the races. Traditionally we would host a Quiz Night bi-annually but due to COVID, we have not had one since 2019.  This is going to be an exciting night full of socialising and laughs. Tickets go on sale today and please see the Quiz Night page in this newsletter for details.

We are also beginning to plan our annual LNPS Community Night which is scheduled for Wednesday 20th September.

Please look out for further updates and confirmation of our theme early next term.

Pupil Free Day

On Monday 24th July, we have our 3rd Pupil Free Day for the year. Staff will be continuing the learning with Visible Learning+. The focus of the day is Designing Learning Using the SOLO Taxonomy. This will involve staff design assessments, quality learning intentions and success criteria and aligned learning experiences with SOLO Taxonomy. SOLO Taxonomy is an approach that supports students with:

  • What am I learning?
  • How is it going?
  • What do I do next?

This is another step in making learning visible. for our students to optimise learning.

Have a lovely holiday break and we look forward to seeing all our students and their families back next term.
