Holiday Screen Time: Finding the Balance

During the wet, cold winter holidays it can be a real challenge for parents to find the balance for their kids with screen time. I know that with my boys it takes up a lot of energy say no to repeated requests to use technology. I found personally that something like the checklist below can help in reducing the constant requests and setting up clear understandings about when and how technology gets to be used.

If you are looking for some, dare I say it, educational screen time options I've included login details for some of the programs we have access to at school.

Google Accounts:

Students from Year 1 - Year 6 have their own individual school Google Accounts. They use these accounts to access Google Drive, Gmail and to sign in to a range of other programs. Students addresses follow the format below

(first 3 letters of first name, first 3 letters of last name)@scgleniris.catholic.edu.au

Students will know their password for this account as they use this password to login to the school chromebooks.

Ziptales:

Ziptales is a great Australian Made online reading resource. Students can read along with a range of varying types of text for different age groups.
