Semester 1 Reports

The Semester 1 Report will be published to the Community Portal at the end of the day on Tuesday 30 June, which is during the middle week of the school holidays. This is a week later than usual, as a consequence of the significant additional workload teachers were faced with during Term 2 because of the Home Learning period.

Parents and guardians will be emailed once the reports are available for viewing, with instructions on how to access them. Please note that you will need your Aitken parent login details to access the reports. Please contact itsupport@aitkencollege.edu.au if you have misplaced your login details.

The Semester 1 Report will provide you with summary information about your child’s achievement and attitudes to learning in each of their subjects, along with a Homeroom teacher’s comment. The report is designed to be read in conjunction with the continuous feedback provided to parents and students via My Aitken.

Students have completed many end of semester assignments, tests and exams in the final days of term, so you can expect to see many new pieces of assessment feedback published on My Aitken added recently or in the coming week. Please try to take some time to look over them so that you are well informed about what your children are learning and how they could be trying to improve in future tasks.

Term 3 Parent Teacher Interviews

Our Term 3 Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on Tuesday 4 August between 3:30pm and 6pm, and on Thursday 13 August between 3:30pm and 8pm, which will provide an opportunity for you to discuss your child’s progress with his or her teachers.

Due to the current social distancing requirements, we will be holding the interviews via Zoom this time around, so you can meet with your child’s teachers online from the comfort and warmth of your own home. Feedback from other schools around Australia who have tried this in Term 2 have reported that it worked very well and that many parents were so happy with the arrangements that several of the schools are considering running interviews remotely from now on, even after the COVID-19 restrictions have passed.

Parents and guardians will need to be able to access My Aitken on the interview evenings to get the links to connect with each teacher’s Zoom meeting, and will need to have Zoom installed and a working microphone on their device. Student devices should all be able to connect to Zoom as it was used so often for school purposes during Term 2, so we recommend that parents consider using their child’s device for the interviews.

I will provide further details to all parents and guardians about how the online interviews will work and how to book interviews, early in Term 3. In the meantime, please try to keep at least one of these evenings free so that you can participate.

We expect to be able to open the interview booking system at 4pm on Monday 27 July.
