From the Boarding Captains

Term Two has be quite a rollercoaster for us all. Following our time at home for a few weeks during Term One, it’s been quite a journey getting back into the routine of boarding, as well as sporting commitments and academics. Although it was tough not being able to socialise as much with sporting or social activities, I feel that, now, everyone will appreciate the opportunities given to us.

I would like to thank Mrs Spinks, Ms Goodgame, Mrs Scott and Mikayla for filling in while Ms Bromhead has been absent. We are all looking forward to Ms Bromhead's return.

This term has been busy with the Years Ten, Eleven and Twelve exams, which everyone handled quite well, considering the circumstances. We are looking forward to getting back to sport next term, with training commencing last week. It has been an enjoyable term in boarding and the Year Twelve students are looking forward to our last term.

Term Two was like a rollercoaster due to Covid-19 but, finally, we are seeing some changes back to the norm as we remember it. In the last few weeks, Year Twelve students sat their first set of exams, while Year Eleven students sat their first ATAR exams and the Year Tens, their first ever exams. Well done to everyone for completing them, especially given the circumstances, and being at home temporarily.

Recreation progressed this term, including a beach trip to Goode Beach, a surfing trip to Denmark for the Eclipse House boys, and, finally, the Amazing Race held on Sunday. It is good to see everyone getting around these activities and recreation opportunities, and we hope to see more in future. It is also great to see boarders ramping back up and getting back out onto the sporting track.

This term break marks the halfway mark for most boarders, and it is an indication to Year Twelve students that their journey with GSG is nearly over. To all boarders, study hard as we are entering the business end of the year. Enjoy these moments in boarding, as when you stand in our shoes about to graduate, the small things will be the most important.
