It was a welcomed celebration greeting all of our students back to school. We enabled a staggered return with our senior students returning 26th May and our Year 7 to 10 students on the 9th June. It has been very obvious the delight the students have displayed in catching up with friends and teachers, both students and teachers have demonstrated a great resilience and effort in making the best out of an ever changing landscape. The parents I have spoken to share the same enthusiasm for their children returning to school. I would really like to thank parents and families who worked in partnership with our teachers, to ensure our students were given every opportunity to continue to learn and achieve success during a less than ideal time.
As you may be aware our ‘Return to School from Remote Learning Expectations’ has been shared to assist you with the knowledge required to keep all members of our community safe and well during this difficult time. It is essential that everyone understands that we have a personal responsibility to preserve our own health and wellbeing and that of others across our community.
Wellbeing and connectedness to school have been a major focus for us throughout this difficult time and will continue to be a high priority as students return to school. We encourage parents to let us know if their child is struggling in any way with the return to school, so we may implement appropriate supports to ease their transition back to normal school life. Staff will continue to closely monitor the wellbeing of their students during this transition as they did during the remote learning phase.
As Principal, I wish to acknowledge the incredible efforts made by our teachers and support staff to ensure our students were continuing to learn and achieve success. They were challenged to adapt and learn new skills themselves, while exceeding expectations. I feel extremely proud and privileged to be leading such a strong, supportive community of staff. As a team we have worked effectively and cooperatively to contribute to the huge success we have come to understand as remote learning. We will continue to maintain the motivation and spirit of optimism achieved thus far as we have learnt a great deal about ourselves and what we can achieve under pressure during unprecedented circumstances.
