Week 10, Term 2, 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Playground Areas

It was terrific having all the students return last week. As mentioned, Catholic Education Melbourne has advised we provide children with more play areas if we are able, to reduce congestion of all the children.  At St Fidelis, we have opened an additional two play spaces (Hall and Basketball court) and this has allowed for more open play spaces for all the children. The children are fantastic the way they have adjusted to the new play areas and the new timetable.

I want to thank the teachers for their extra supervision. Opening up play spaces requires more teacher supervision, which means the teachers are on yard duty nearly every day with very little break time for morning tea and lunch. We are lucky to have teachers that want the best and safe environment for your children.

Pick Up Time

This week has seen an increase of parents picking up their children from Saunders Street gate. The congestion is partially due to parents arriving too early to pick up their children.

If your child is dismissed at 3:30pm or 3:20pm, please do not arrive at 3:00pm as this causes congestion of people on the Saunders Street footpath and causes congestion with the flow of traffic in Saunders Street.

If you are able to arrange to pick up your child from Benny Courts gate or Hawthorn Street gate, that would help ease the congestion that is currently occurring. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Under no circumstances are children to cross the road where there is no school crossing. As parents, we need to set an example for our children and teach the children the safest way to cross the road.

A reminder that Social Distancing by adults is required at all times.

Parish Education Board Meeting

The Parish Education Board will meet next Tuesday 23rd June at 7:00pm. This is our first meeting for the year, as Term One's meeting due to COVID-19 was cancelled. I want to thank the Board members for agreeing to be part of this team and I am looking forward to our first meeting. Help Wanted

I am looking for someone handy to build a LEGO WALL for our new STEM/Innovation Space. I have purchased all the Lego Mats but I require someone to make a board and mount these mats onto it and onto a brick wall. (See image as an example and a link to a Youtube Clip ---“How To Make a Lego Wall”) If anyone has anytime and is able to assist with this project, I would love to hear from you and so will the children of St Fidelis.  Thank you Manuela https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TACfx2zW2E

To finish off my newsletter today, let us remember we are still in a pandemic and God has been good to us in Australia, but we are not to get complacent. Here is a prayer we can continue to pray that was written by Pope Francis.

Pope Francis Prayer for protection from Coronavirus

O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.

At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith.

You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need.

We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee,

joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will

and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself,

and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross,

to the joy of the Resurrection.

Amen.

Have a great week,

Manuela
