Principal's Report

Dear Parents,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. There has been a 'bug' around the school community which has resulted in children and teachers feeling unwell. Can I please remind you that if you have a child that is not well, can you please keep them at home. This is the only way we can all keep well. This is the same message I give teachers who are very reluctant to stay home, especially at this busy time of the year.
On Monday night we had our information session for 2020 Prep. Next year we have 34 Prep children beginning their educational journey. I was so overwhelhmed by the current Prep children who spoke about the experiences of being at school for almost one year.
The children were so passionate, articulate and ethusiastic about their school. They gave reasons of why we are a good school and the way they have been encouraged to strive for the best that they can be.
As you may be aware, this is the busiest time of the year as we complete reports, organise staffing, transitions to Prep and Secondary Schools and class allocations for 2020. In this busy time it is easy to lose focus on what is really important. It is a time when we need to stop, breathe and relax, a time to recognise that our children remain our number one priority. As a school, we try very
hard to keep the children grounded and try not to get caught up in the commercialisation of Christmas.
We teach them that not everyone in our world has the possibilities of spending heaps of money at the shops, so we look at other ways of reaching out to those in need. Takesome time to think about those who are less fortunate than yourself and perhaps consider reaching out to them this Christmas.
As we review our Learning and Teaching
programs and devise an Annual Action Plan
for 2020 we give thanks for all that has been
achieved this year. The 2020 school year
will be a year in which we continue to focus
on explicit teaching to improve outcomes in
Literacy and Numeracy, particularly
Writing, Spelling and Number facts. We will
continue to pre and post-test so that we can
accurately identify student needs. As extra
curricula activities in 2020, we will
introduce a Water Safety Program in Term 2 for Prep - 2 and in Term 3 for Yr 3-6 as well as
our whole School Concert on 20 November
2020.
We are in count down to our Fete, my thanks to parents who have signed up to help out. There are still spots left so I ask you to please sign up, even for an hour if that is all you can spare. The link to sign up is as follows: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040D4EAAAD2BA1FE3-fete
