LIBRARY NEWS

From the Library..
Welcome to week 9! Can you believe that we are nearly at the end of the year already? I feel that my first year in the library has flown and I have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with and reading great books to your children. The library is a very special place.
Last week we had our final library lessons for the year and now we begin the stocktake of all books. Before we do this, however, Mrs House and I have been busy ‘weeding’ out old books that are no longer borrowed. So far, the oldest book we have weeded was bought in 1962 and it hasn’t been borrowed in over twenty years, so we thought it was time for it to be retired and let our newer books stand out.
The good news is, we are not just ‘throwing them out’, instead all the books being weeded are being taken by Rotary to be distributed to Papua New Guinea in the new year. We feel much happier knowing that these good books will still be read and used well into the future.
Thankyou!
I wanted to pass on a big thank you to families who have helped return their library loans. I certainly feel like an ogre when I chase up students to bring them in, but we have very few left so I appreciate your work with this. If you still have any outstanding, it’s not too late to send them in or drop them into the office.
Premiers Reading Challenge
The PRC had a delay in printing their special awards this year and they were posted out last Thursday, so I expect them to arrive early this week. Following the coin drop this Wednesday, the PRC certificates will be handed out. Again, congratulations to all participants, they did a great job reading so many good books.
I hope you all have a great week,
Mrs Fraser
