SECONDARY NEWS

From the Assistant Principal

Year 10 Graduation

The Holy Trinity Year 10 Class of 2018 graduated from Holy Trinity School last Friday.

For the first part of the week students had a Christian Living Camp at Copeton Dam.  Mr Gibson, Mr Lewis, Mrs McLachlan and Miss Bailey all spent time at the camp. A number of secondary staff, Fr Thaddeus, Father Vince and Mrs Rainger also joined the camp on Monday and Tuesday nights for the evening meal. Students enjoyed the experience and were able to spend quality time together before they go their separate ways next year.

The Graduation Mass on Friday was a moving experience for all who attended. Fr Thaddeus and Fr Vince congratulated the students, reminding them of the love and support they have received from their families and that something worth achieving may take time and patience. He encouraged them to be good friends with all in the community, to be lifelong learners and congratulated them on their Graduation.

Year 10 students had prepared a beautiful liturgy that included relevant scripture readings and inspiring hymns and music. Congratulations to Mr Gibson for his overall planning and also to Ms Melvin for her assistance with the band and choir.

The students and their families then gathered at school for a farewell morning tea, which was hosted by Year 9 students assisted by Mrs Watchirs and Ms Melvin. The quadrangle area provided many shaded areas for family and friends to mingle with students and staff.

Friday evening saw the culmination of a hectic week with the Graduation Dinner at the RSM Club. The young men and women were a credit to themselves, their families and the school. After a formal presentation by Mrs Rainger, Mrs Elizabeth Williamson responded on behalf of the parents. She spoke about Holy Trinity and the strong family connections made over her family’s time at the school - 50 years in total! It was a fantastic night, staff, students and their parents and guests danced until late!

Once again Year 9 students assisted with the catering and distribution of meals. They worked tirelessly and received positive comments from the staff at the RSM. Thanks to the following students: Gabbie Barratt, Grace Doyle, Gabby Gallagher and Emma McInnes.

Commendation Assembly

On Friday afternoon at 2.00pm the Secondary Commendation Assembly will be held in the school hall. As well as being a presentation ceremony we are going to have some performances from the Year 7 and Year 8 Music classes.

Parents and friends are invited to attend the Commendation Assembly.

Students will also find out if they are receiving awards on Presentation Night, which will be held on Monday 17 December.
