World Teacher's Day
Every day, Victorian teachers are shaping the future and making a profound difference to young lives.
Celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide, World Teachers’ Day was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in 1994 to recognise the role of teachers in society. This year, UNESCO will focus on the support teachers need to fully contribute to the recovery process under the theme ‘Teachers at the heart of education recovery’.
In Victoria, World Teachers’ Day was celebrated on 29 October 2021, it provided an opportunity for our community to say 'thank you' and celebrate the achievements and leadership of teachers. It was an opportunity to take a moment to recognise the passion of teachers and how teaching has extended beyond the classroom in maintaining connections through remote learning.
At Fairhills a special lunch was provided to staff to recognise the past, present and future support of our students, parents and greater community by our teachers. Many staff received messages of thanks from their students.
