Catholic Identity

October is Catholic Mission Month
October is traditionally Catholic Mission Month where our focus is on the work done by the various mission-based orders of the church. Historically, the role of these orders was to spread the Word of God in parts of the world which were yet to encounter Christianity and to establish faith communities. While this is still a major function of these groups, their attention has more recently turned to establishing and supporting social justice initiatives. Mission Month is an opportunity for us to reflect upon the sacrifices made by the priests, nuns and brothers who continue in the footsteps of Jesus as they work towards the vision “That all may have life in Christ”.
