BODY KIND SCHOOLS

This month the Butterfly Foundation is launching it’s ‘Body Kind Schools’ campaign.

Body Kind Schools Australia is the largest annual positive body image movement for young people.  Formerly Love your Body Week for Schools,  Body Kind Schools takes an evidence-informed approach to promoting positive body kind image and asks young people to find ways to be kind to their own body and to others (https://butterfly.org.au/get-involved/campaigns/bodykindschools/).

Body Kind Schools encourages schools to focus on the significant topic of body image, with the specific call to action, Being Body Kind – to our own body and to others; face to face and online.  It is a strengths-based and positive mental health promotion initiative that is designed to foster positive environments for all young people, in all bodies!

One way to show Body Kind to ourselves is to reflect on all the wonderful things we can do. Attached is some information, put together by Emma Lewis (Year 12) Wellbeing SLC, about a website called ‘Future Me’.  The website is designed so that you can write a letter to your future self.  Emma has also written an article that talks about the website and ways it can be used to promote reflection and kindness to ourselves.  Please take the time to read Emma's article, visit the website and write something to your future selves that considers the ideas of kindness and reflection.’
