 ‘Pop Rocket’ Investigation

Students designed and made their own ‘pop’ rockets powered by ‘Aspro’ tablets and water in a film canister. They chose to investigate the following:

  • How does the size of the nose cone affect the time in the air?
  • How does the length of the body affect the time in the air?
  • How does the number of fins affect the time in the air?
  • How does the angle of the nose cone affect horizontal distance travelled?
  • How does the mass of the rocket affect the time of flight?

Each group tested three rockets outside and presented their results to the class.
