Middle School News

Year 9 this year

If there was a ‘best year level for lockdown’ it would’ve been year eight. And last year, our wishes were granted. We weren’t too young to understand the online process, we weren’t new to the school so we had time to make friends, and we had no exams. But we never expected that we would spend the majority of this year doing home learning as well.

This year, we entered year nine. The first year of middle school and the first year of exams, or would have been if not for COVID. This year was filled with the challenges of more stress than last year and the stress of not knowing if exams were going to happen or not. We didn’t get the time we wanted to be with the friends we made in our first two years of high school. But most of all, we didn’t get time to be with our classes. And speaking for the Enhancement kids, we are an extremely close-knit group. We didn’t get the chance to be a full class in our last year of the Enhancement program.

But the first day back to school, we were welcomed to the schools by the most loveliest teachers. And when it really comes down to it, we couldn’t have made it through all those lockdowns without the support of the amazing teachers and staff at the school. Although we have missed camps and countless events, we have still had the opportunity to learn to the best of our abilities. And as we approach the end of the year, we reflect on the amazing classes and genuine fun times we had. Most of us will enter early VCE next year, and we will have six  new electives meaning every class that we have we will have different people.
