Principal's Report

Michelle Mackenlay

Over the past two weeks, we have seen the staggered return of our students, all of whom have settled in fairly smoothly. Next week, we see all students return full time from Monday 1st of November, not including the Public Holiday on Tuesday 2nd of November.

Outside School Hours Care Program

It is with great pleasure and excitement that Clyde Primary School announces TeamKids as our new Outside of School Care (OSHC) provider beginning in 2022. I would like to thank all of the parents who completed our recent feedback survey on OSHC needs, and a personal thank you to Jenny M and Steph H, two members of our School Council, who were heavily involved in the selection process.

We are confident that a new partnership with TeamKids will benefit all students and families at our school. Further information about the program will be supplied in the coming weeks.

Breakfast Club Re-Opens

Put this date in your diary, as of Friday November 5th, our Breakfast Club is reopening. However, this time it will look a little different…

As a response to the pandemic and to minimise time spent indoors, our lovely Breakfast Club volunteers will be offering an outdoor Grab and Go menu. We will have toast, fruit, and other snacks available with each snack designed to promote a healthy start to the day. We look forward to seeing you there!

Please note: Given that we will be outdoors, the program shall be weather dependent and is scheduled to run Tuesday and Friday mornings from 8.15-8.45 from the outside of the Foundation Building.

While we have a dedicated roster of volunteers who assist with the running of our Breakfast Club each week, we could not offer this program without community support. However, many hands make light work and we are always looking for more parents and friends to help out. If this interests you, or you would like more information, please contact the school office.

Please Return Library Books!

We are asking all families to keep an eye out for any stray school library books and return these by next Friday 5th November. We will be beginning our annual stocktake in the library, so need all books returned. Please note, that this does not include take home reading books.

2022 Planning

With the end of year approaching, we are drafting our 2022 class lists. Sometimes parents have a specific request that they would like us to consider before making these lists.   If you have a specific request, please email this to clyde.ps@education.vic.gov.au by

Friday 12th November.  Please ensure the request states the benefits to your child’s education.  Not all requests can be appeased, however we do try our best.

Semester Reports

At Clyde Primary School we know it is vital to involve students and their parents/carers in learning. This includes providing a written report to parents/carers on student progress and achievement at least twice a year. The Department of Education and Training has recently adjusted the expectations around student reporting for Semester 2 in recognition of the disruption caused by COVID-19.

We will therefore provide a modified written report for the parent/carer of each student enrolled at the school for Semester 2, 2021 focusing on what progress has been made and what has been achieved by each child.

This semesters reports will include a description of the areas of the Victorian Curriculum taught this semester. For English and Mathematics student achievement information will be represented on a continuum of learning. This will show progress made since the last time the curriculum areas were reported on a five-point scale. For all other curriculum areas taught, a short comment on progress and achievement across the semester will be provided.

Once reports have been published parents/carers will be welcome to contact their child’s class or specialist teacher by Compass to arrange a time to discuss their child’s report either via phone or a WebEx conference.
