From the Principal

Great to be BACK!

It was delightful to welcome our juniors back to school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week. It was sensational that we were also able to welcome back all our seniors a week early on Friday.

There was a bit of adjusting to do but before long everyone was back and enjoying being together. There are some safety changes to stay COVID safe like working in bubbles or pods in our learning spaces and getting use to separate play areas and play times if you are in Learning Space 1. (Hopefully just for another few weeks only!) Masks is another thing new for us all in primary school. However we are so impressed with the flexibility and resilience on display to adapt to the changes.

We are continuing to see a high number of coronavirus cases across Victoria. There have been cases in schools nearby, so we all need to take extra care over the next few weeks. St Francis de Sales, Lynbrook is doing everything possible to contain and slow the spread of the virus. We can keep our school safer by taking safety steps together.

One of the most important and effective things we can do to help maintain onsite learning is to wear masks to help minimise COVID-19 transmission risk. When worn properly, masks can play an important role in reducing the transmission risks of COVID-19 that could happen from common activities in school. The Victorian government has supplied us with children's size face masks. We will be able to replace lost or damaged masks.

  • Face masks are required for students in Grade 3 to Grade 6, only when indoors on school premises, unless an exception applies.
  • Face masks are highly recommended for students in Prep to Grade 2.

The more of us who wear a face mask the greater the extra protection we have. Parents are reminded to wear a mask while dropping off and picking up children from classroom doors.

We are just getting back to being full time at school. We want to avoid an outbreak at St Francis de Sales that causes us to close a section of the school. Primary aged children who are not vaccinated and become a primary close contact to a positive case, will need to work from home for as many as 14 days!

Let's work together to keep safe and STAY OPEN!!

Planning for 2022

Given the year we have had, 2021 just seems to have passed by and 2022 planning is upon us. Current families in Foundation to Year 5 who are leaving the school at the end of the year are asked to put this in writing. (principal@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au) by Friday 30th October.

In preparation for classes in 2022, families who have specific information regarding the placement of your child are asked to put this in writing by Friday 30th October. The information is to state the needs to be considered and these should be discussed with your child’s class teacher beforehand. A request is taken into consideration with other factors but is not guaranteed.

MACSSIS Survey 2021

The last day to complete this survey is Thursday 28 October!!

At the moment only 10% of our families have completed this survey.

We ask you despite the hectic pace of life at the moment to take 20 minutes to complete this survey and help us refine and develop our school improvement plan.

Win  $100

A BIG call out to our parents to please complete the MACSSIS survey tonight or tomorrow.

The odds of winning $100 is very high given current numbers.

Send us your proof of completion via email and go into a draw for $100 off this year’s or next year’s school fees or get a crisp new $100 note and use the money to treat yourself now that shops are opening up!!
