School & Community Partnerships

I would like to thank the members of the School and Community Partnerships Committee (Rob Graham. Amy Rose, Sally Bradshaw, Karolin Freedman, Tarryn Holland, Susie Condron, Vicki Smith, Alicia Oliver-Cook and Natalie Rose) for their contributions in 2018.

We have been generously supported by the whole RPS community.  There is always a danger in trying to list individuals as inevitably someone is left out ... so I hope we haven’t forgotten anyone ...

Class Representatives

Thank you to our Parent Class Representatives who have ably taken on the role of assisting our Class Teachers with organising family participation this year:  Isabel Lasala, Tarryn Holland, Lena Lee, Sela Jones, Simone Kaplan, Lee Brennan, Bronwyn Weingott, Tanya Lukashevsky, Sally Russell, Louise Goodman, Robyn Cooney, Claire Evans, Kim Elisha, Gina Millar, Sally Bradshaw, Amy Rose and Kym Smith.

Ripper Families

While every parent in our school community is a member of our social and fundraising body, Ripper Families, the organisation of each individual event falls to a few, therefore we are truly grateful for the time, effort and dedication of the following parents:

  • Burger & Shake Day – thanks to Kym Smith
  • Trivia Night – thanks to Stephen Hall, Susie Condron and Kylie Jeffares
  • Entertainment Books – thanks to Nat G and Sarah C in the Office
  • Mothers Day Stall – thanks to Karolin Freedman and Kate Keon-Cohen
  • Parents Battle of the Bands – thanks to Dagmar Yeaman and Michael Redman
  • Fathers’ Day Stall – thanks to Susie Condron
  • Twilight Market – thanks to Kym Smith, Heidi Skillen and Kylie Jeffares
  • Twilight Market Face Painting Stall – thanks to Bridget Hast and Rebecca Valk
  • Election Day – thanks to Martyn Rose, Susie Condron, Lee Brennan, Tarryn Holland and Ross Quail
  • Christmas Raffle
  • Cake Raffles – thanks to the baking efforts of Isabel L, Lucy K, Delia W, Julie T, Billie G, Peta M, Amy R, Anne D, Tasma D, Kylie M, Bridget H, Linda S, Louisa M and of course Lee B for her magnificent end-of-term and special event cakes (which, alone, raised over $500 – a third of a our cake raffle funds!)

And to Susie Condron, who has cheerfully and tirelessly assisted with the execution of all of these events ... a truly inspirational Social and Fundraising Coordinator!

These events would not be successful without the support of each and every family at Ripponlea Primary, therefore we are extremely grateful to everyone who has participated this year - you have enabled Ripper Families to raise $17,000.  Along with the funds raised at our Ripper Fete in May and parents’ voluntary contributions to our Building, Library, Maintenance and Special Projects funds, we made a number of improvements to the school this year, including completion or our outdoor learning deck, classroom acoustics and the purchase of iPads.

The work of the Class Reps, School Council and Ripper Families would be impossible without the support of Natalie G, Sarah, Jess and Natalie R ... thank you for your assistance with everything we’ve undertaken this year.  And to Mark Soroczynski who is always willing to help clean up the mess we make at these events – we are eternally grateful for your support.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank Peta Magick and Andrea Rutherford for their coordination of the Year 6 Graduation Book – a beautiful and treasured keepsake.

Snack Shack

For their assistance on the Snack Shack Committee, we thank Susie Moloney, Lee Brennan, Louisa MacDonald, and Zarmeen Hassan.  And of course the MANY parents who helped out each Wednesday and Friday.  Without your involvement we cannot provide this invaluable opportunity for grade 5 and 6 students to gain customer service experience and for the whole student body to practice money handling and shopping skills in a safe and supportive environment.  Thank you also to the grade 4, 5 and 6 students who gave up their recess time each week to serve the other students.

Uniform Shop

Amy Rose, Kate Keon-Cohen and Michelle Loft again enabled us to provide an on-site uniform service and we are very thankful for their efforts every Friday morning and throughout each week.

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank and farewell one long-standing member of our school community who has been consistently and tirelessly involved in RPS events for many years.  Michelle Loft leaves our community this year and she will greatly missed.

Michelle was the driving force behind the reinvention of Art Attack and has been the creative talent and organiser of countless sustainable art installations at RPS.  In addition to her contribution to our fetes she has been a constant presence in the Uniform Shop and her creative input to our school productions has been invaluable.  This year she has single handedly organised and catalogued our costume department and this alone will leave a lasting impact on our school.  Michelle, we wish you and your family all the best.

I am, once again, grateful to have worked alongside the RPS families who are so dedicated to providing a rich and diverse learning environment for our children.  Thank you for your support and involvement.

We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.

We look forward to seeing all our new and existing families and staff back at school on Thursday 31st January 2019.
