Our Fortnight in Review

This fortnight we have spent most of our time packing, cleaning, moving and unpacking into our new OSHC home in the ‘old library’. We have had some great ideas put forward during our children’s meetings, as well as from parents and educators, and look forward to really making this space our own over the next few months.

In Sewing Club, Sheryl (Educator) and the children have been busy making Christmas stockings. A lot of time and effort goes into making these stockings and we are so proud of all the patience and resilience the children have been showing throughout the process.

Zac (Educator) and the children made Banana Choc Chip Muffins. This recipe has been requested over and over by the children and is definitely a favourite amongst the staff!

Our real Christmas tree has made its way into the new OSHC space. We love hearing how 'lovely and Christmassy' the room smells as children and parents enter the room!

Signing In & Out

OSHC has now moved into the ‘old library’, please come here to sign your children in to before school care and out of after school care.

Are you Handy?

Are you handy with a hammer and nails? We are looking for someone who can donate some time to help us create a ‘loose parts station’. We require some shelving and small cupboards for our new room.

If you or someone you know can help us out, please come and speak with me (Kelly).

Tomorrow’s Leader’s for Sustainability (TLfS)

Last week our TLfS students enjoyed an excursion to Balcombe Park Reserve. During this excursion the students participated in a range of experiences designed to promote a sense of connectedness to the local environment The students looked at Indigenous planting and their biodiversity purpose.

My favourite part of the excursion was the mini beast hunt, it was so cool seeing all the different bugs! Aaliyah W (3C)

Quality Improvement Plan

Last fortnight we asked you what you thought of our OneChild online documentation. We have taken your feedback on board, in particular around the difficulties some of you are experiencing in changing your passwords, and have passed this feedback onto OneChild as we do not have control over this function.

This fortnight we would like to ask what you would like to see included in our Program in 2019, for example, a particular sport, excursion/incursion or holiday/celebration. We look forward to your response!

Donate to our Christmas Collection - #itsinthebag

Friendly reminder that we are collecting items for Share the Dignity’s IT’S IN THE BAG campaign (see details below) until tomorrow (30 November). We are also making up bags at OSHC, so if you have a handbag you want to drop off, or even just an item to include in one of the other bags, please put it in the basket under the sign in table. Here is ‘A Quick Guide to your #ITSINTHEBAG donation’ for examples of the items we are collecting.

First of all, choose a handbag in good condition that you no longer use.  Then, fill it with items that would make a woman feel special, pop in a thoughtful note or Christmas card and show her someone cares. Show her that she matters because everyone deserves to feel that way. Next time you’re at the shops, collect a few items for your Christmas handbag. No matter how you celebrate Christmas with your family, this will be the most meaningful and appreciated gift you give this year.

There are 85,000 homeless women who need your help this Christmas. Many have fled domestic violence or experienced extreme poverty. We want to make them feel special. You can help. It’s simple and it makes a big difference in a woman’s life.

Feedback

As always, we welcome feedback about any aspect of the program. Please feel free to come in and have a chat with Kelly or Tamara, send us an email or leave a note in the Feedback box on the sign-in table.

We welcome your input!
