Year 3 Excursion to Healesville Sanctuary

By Sasha, Year 3A

The bus rumbled to a stop, it was time to board.

On Monday the 1st of April, the Year 3's visited Healesville Sanctuary as part of our Australian Geography unit.

First, we has morning tea and an Ibis (they are a type of naughty bird) stole food from lots of people!

After morning tea, 3A went to 'Tricky Traps', an exhibition about spider webs and insect habitats.

After 'Tricky Traps', we started to proceed up to the north of the sanctuary to the 'Spirits of the Sky' show, where some birds did lots of tricks. A talking bird called Kevin knew his left foot and his right foot!

It was already 12:20pm and we has another hour and 40 minutes at the sanctuary, so we walked through the kangaroo enclosures and heard the keeper talking about joeys. They were so cute! On our way to the lunch stop, we stopped past the wombats and koalas. We were lucky to spot two koalas awake, which is apparently very rare!

When we stopped for lunch, more people had their food stolen by Ibis! When we had only 5 minutes left, the ranger came to find us and asked it we wanted to feed an emu! We did, and the emu was very snappy!

We finally headed back to school on the bus. I had an awesome day at Healesville Sanctuary.
