Message from Principal Sally

Year 3 Excursion to Healesville Sanctuary

Welcome back to Tetm 2

Our first week back was a little ‘stop and start’ with public holidays and a planning day. However, this week we are off to a grand full-week of term 2.

Our ANZAC Day assembly was respectful and moving as always. Thank you to Bob Slater for providing his moving remarks about our school connection to the ANZACs.

On Friday 26 April,  all staff were actively engaged in a powerful professional learning day with Dr Bill Rogers. Bill worked with us to support our ongoing review of the whole school framework around shared aims with a focus on behaviour.  This included behaviour awareness, behaviour ownership, respecting rights and building working relationships in order to further develop a co-operative culture which enables positive and engaging teaching and learning.

At the centre of our work is the focus on ensuring our school staff and students are Mentally, Physically and Psychologically Safe.

The new reception and meeting room spaces have been completed and will provide valuable opportunities for staff to meet and learn cooperatively. Thanks to Mitchell and the team at ASPECT ONE GROUP and our School Council Building and Grounds convenor, Paul for completing this during the two weeks of school holidays to avoid disruptions to the school.

Three way conferences will be held this week on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd May.  We look forward to the opportunity of sharing your child’s progress and 2019 goals.

NAPLAN Dates

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) 2019 for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students will be held on Tuesday 14 May, Wednesday 15 May and Thursday 16 May 2019.

Changes to Planning Day in Term 4

We have had the opportunity to engage Deb Sukarna (Education Consultant) to further develop our work in improving writing outcomes, which aligns with our 2019 AIP.

Unfortunately, Deb’s availability is extremely limited and therefore we have had to make an amendment to our Term 4 Curriculum Day. The Term 4 Curriculum Day will now be scheduled for Monday 14th October (week 2) rather than the original date of Monday 7th October (week 1).

We are very excited to work with Deb and look forward to the day.

With the weather getting cooler students may wish to join a lunchtime club.
