Community Cultural Festival

My name is George Tzimourtas and I am in my third year as the Director of Community Engagement.

I enjoy getting out in our local community and spreading the word about all the great things our students do here at South Oakleigh College.

At the start of each year, I take a group of our students to ten local primary schools where they present to all of the grade 5 and 6 students, giving the primary school students an insight into secondary school life.

We have a number of important College events happening this Term.  On 13 February we held the Year 7 BBQ where our newest parents and students joined us for dinner and an opportunity to meet their child’s teachers and fellow parents.

Our Community Cultural Festival will be held on Friday 20 March beginning at 4:30pm.  Make sure you keep the date free and come and enjoy the Food Trucks and numerous performances on stage, as well as stalls selling their wares.

The last day of Term 1 will see all of our students participating in our annual Community Action Day Walkathon where students will collect pledges to raise money for the Monash Children’s Hospital.  Last year we raised $10,000 - a magnificent effort by our College community - and we hope to surpass this amount in 2020.  It promises to be a great day for a wonderful cause.

We are always looking for opportunities to bring our community together so please join us at these major events.
