PLENARY COUNCIL
Last year you may remember that I provided some details about the Plenary Council 2020. As a College, staff participated in discussion of the question “What do you think God is asking of us in Australia at this time?” Between May 2018 and March 2019, almost 17,500 submissions, including teachers at St Joseph’s College addressed the Plenary Council’s central question.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
'Throughout 2019 I completed my community service at three different places, at school as a tour guide, at Merbein P-10 as a helper in the prep classrooms and at the Merbein library. The Senior Mercy Works Program gave me the opportunity to volunteer within my community and to give a helping hand'.

ST JOSEPH'S COLLEGE STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN FEAST DAY ACTIVITIES
On Saturday August 10, our local Knights of the Southern Cross held their annual Feast Day celebrations for St Mary of the Cross MacKillop at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish. The celebrations began with Fr Michael McKinnon and Fr James Kerr celebrating the Parish Mass on Saturday night, followed by a procession from the Church to the Sacred Heart Hall where the local parishioners enjoyed a night of entertainment and good food. Our senior students were involved in assisting the Knights of the Southern Cross setting up the Hall during the day and also cooking and serving the BBQ evening meal to some 250 parishioners.
While other students allowed their musical gifts to be shared during the Mass and then later during the concert. Although a cold night outside, a warm, friendly and welcoming environment was experienced by all inside. Congratulations to the Knights of the Southern Cross for their continued support of our Australian Saint – St Mary on the Cross MacKillop.
Thank you to Mr Matthew Mandica for his assistance with the students performing on the night. Thank you to Abdul Ali, Tugba Erciyas, Jacinta Baker, Soane Fatai and Monique Carrazza for supporting our local Knights of the Southern Cross.
