NAPLAN Results
Student Reports detailing individual student results from the NAPLAN tests held in May for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 were made available to us by VCAA (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority) this week. Parents of students in these year levels should soon receive a Student Report by post; it gives details about your child’s performance in each area of reading, writing, language conventions and numeracy and an explanatory brochure is included. Please note, however, that a small number of students were absent for all tests or have started at the school since May and therefore did not receive a report.
You may have heard about some of the concerns raised by various experts quoted in the media about the validity of comparing online and paper-and-pen NAPLAN results. Our experience completing online testing for the first time this year was that our students were more engaged by the online tests than they have been in previous pen-and-paper tests, and their answers were therefore more likely to give a true indication of their knowledge and skill. No students appeared to be having any trouble navigating the online test platform to record their answers.
If you have any questions about the NAPLAN report or concerns about your child’s results, please do not hesitate to contact me or the relevant Head of School.
Parent Satisfaction Survey
My sincere thanks to all parents and guardians who took the time to complete the recent Parent Satisfaction Survey. Your feedback is appreciated. We will receive the results later this year and will be looking closely at them to ensure that we are meeting the needs of the College community to the best of our ability.
