Book Week 2018
It has been a very busy and exciting time in the Library these past few weeks with Book Week activities running from 10 August to 28 August.
There were guest authors and activities for all students from Prep to Year 9. Visitors included authors: Adam Wallace, Jack Heath, Scot Gardner, Archie Fusillo, Felice Arena and Kym Lardner. Students had a great time re-enacting scenes from Felice’s books, learning to draw cartoon characters with Adam and getting tips on how to write and publish books with Jack, Scot and Archie.
There was a special lunch for students involved in our Book of the Year Reading Club. Those students were then involved in a Secondary Literature Quiz which was highly contested. Congratulations to Mrs Jarvis-Dymond and her winning team.
Fairview students participated in a Book Week Activity morning where they worked on a number of creative activities based on the short-listed picture story books. They also had a fantastic time laughing along with Kym Lardner during his story telling and singing.
Cumberland students were very competitive during the Cumberland Trivia Quiz. Congratulations to Millar house for winning the quiz. As part of the lead up to Book Week, all Cumberland students wrote and illustrated their own picture story books. Well done to all Cumberland students for their creative stories, and hard work to get their books completed on time. Congratulations to the following students who received a prize for their winning books - Caleb D 3A, Aksheta R 3H, Georgia D 4C, Hirundi I 4C, Talia G 4P, Georgia A 5K, Ethan Y 5K, Natalija M 5K, Aoide A 6A, Thomas W 6A and Camryn B 6K. It was also great to see Cumberland students dressed up as characters from their own books for the Assembly.
Thank you to Library staff, teachers, parents and students – who all contributed to ensure that the busy program run smoothly.
