PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

VISIT TO CHINA

At the end of May I, along with Anna Zhang our International Student translator, visited Qingdao Number Sixty-Six High School in Shandong Province, Qingdao, China.  I signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the Principal and we hope to forge very positive relationships that will be mutually beneficial for both our staff and students.  The school has approximately 2000 students and is located in Qingdao, China.  We were hosted by the Principal, Assistant Principal and a number of members of the staff at the school who generously gave of their time, and introduced us to the school community.  The school has a wonderful friendly and energetic atmosphere.  Both the students and staff warmly greeted us and were very interested in the newly established relationship between the two schools. We look forward to further building our relationship with Number 66 High School through student and teacher collaborations planned from next year.

This presents yet another opportunity for McKinnon students to share resources, build understanding and forge strong positive relationships.

DRAMA NIGHT

A number of Drama Night performances took place during the term and I would like to congratulate Ms Doctor and the students involved in these events.  Thank you also to the many friends and family members who attended for your support of our students and the performing arts at McKinnon.  The drama students performed beautifully and were a credit to themselves and their teachers.

FRENCH EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Today we welcomed 21 French exchange students who are staying with their host families for six weeks.  It is always wonderful to host international guests and I hope their experiences are positive and rewarding.  I know strong friendships will be forged and I hope language enrichment will be achieved.

Thank you to Pierrick Hubert and Kellie Dickson for their efforts with this exchange and the many staff involved during the success of this program.  I would also like to thank and acknowledge our generous families who host our student guests and look after them while in Australia and help to ensure their experience is positive and memorable.
