Where did the holidays go? They are but a distant memory!

Wednesday 31 January was the day all 460 Senior School students returned to Koonung ready for a new year of endeavour, effort and success. The day began with a whole Sub School assembly, probably the earliest many students had been awake in the past 6 weeks! With the introduction of the new timetable format and the thought of a ‘10 on day’, there were many questions and comments, but it was great to see so many students, new and old, keen and eager to get off to a great start.

This is a very important year for our 144 Year 12 students, as they come to the end of the secondary schooling. There are only 30 odd weeks left…a slightly scary thought!

All students have settled into the school year with a great sense of calm and enthusiasm. The 10 period day has not caused too much stress and in fact most students are finding the format better and enabling them to be more focussed with the bell sounding on the half hour. Many of them have been making good use of the Senior Centre both before and after school to complete homework tasks, set up study groups and prepare themselves for upcoming assessments. It is fantastic to see so many students making use of this fantastic space – cool in the heat of summer and warm and cosy through winter.

A reminder to all parents that if you have a child that is doing fantastic things outside of school and representing us locally, nationally or globally please give the Senior School a call or email the coordinators to let us know. We are very interested in all of our students’ achievements and we may be able to help them out with organisation or relieving some of the extra stresses that they may be facing. We are here to help you and your family get through what can be a very stressful but highly enjoyable time at school.

The Senior School Team along with many of the Principal Team will be in attendance at the Information sessions in the Senior Centre, and we look forward to catching up with parents of returning students and meeting the parents of our many new students over the two nights.

We all look forward to a great year and the celebrations of the many successes that lay ahead for all of our students.
