Specialist Classes
ART
The last few weeks in Art the junior students have been exploring elements of Art in Nature. We’ve looked at colour, shape, line and texture. Students then created some beautiful sun catchers with autumn leaves and used their creativity to create some leaf collage pictures. The senior classes have also used nature as inspiration to create some beautiful wire sculptures. They learnt many wire sculpture techniques and some found it challenging. After some perseverance and a bit more practise everyone was happy with their incredible sculptures. Our artworks are on display in the foyer of our school and look amazing.
STEM
The 3/4 students have been super busy exploring Heat this term in STEM. They really enjoyed the experiment on how fast food dye spreads in warm water as opposed to cold water. After a bit of research, it didn’t take long for the students to work out that the food colouring added to the water was being pushed around by water molecules. Since the molecules in warm water move around faster, the food colouring spreads out quicker in the warm water than in the cold water. STEM superstars!!!!!
SPORT
Campaspe District cross country was held on Thursday May 18th, we had twenty two of our speediest students representing St Patricks- the most we have ever sent! It was inspirational to see each student run their best race with on the track around Moama, in perfect St Pats spirit cheering on fellow students as they came into their final 100m sprint.Congratulations to all students for representing St Pats so well, demonstrating determination and sportsmanship throughout the day. Shout out to Tamara Brennan and Zac Wakenshaw for making it through to the next round- we know you'll do us proud!
The students have started a 5 week training block of ultimate frisbee, with a specialist coach coming in to show us the ropes. So far students have practiced throwing and catching the frisbee with a focus on distance and accuracy. We played some fun games and had some healthy competition within the each class for most accurate and longest distance. Such a fun game to lead us into the middle of the year.
