This week we began our Soup making, as a Mentoring Group the Year 1's through Year 6's will be making the soup on Wednesdays, that will be delivered to Adelaide Day Centre to help feed those in need. Each mentoring group will be assigned a week, between now and end of Term 3. Ingredients will be on the sheet they receive and we are asking each family to bring the allocated item written on the form. We appreciate all the support you can provide.

Feast of Mary Help of Christians

Last Wednesday we celebrated in classes, the Feast of Mary Help of Christians.

Mary Help of Christians was the first Patron Saint of Australia. On this day we celebrate the Catholic Spirit of the initial Catholic settlers . Catholic Australia remained faithful to Mary and was the first nation to choose her under the title Help of Christians, as principal Patroness. St Mary’s Cathedral was dedicated in her honour by the Irish pioneer priest, Fr John Therry, who arrived in Sydney in 1820 and  assumed responsibility for the planning and initial construction of the Cathedral. When Australia became the first country to have Mary Help of Christians as Patroness, it became the first country to have a mother-cathedral under the same title. In fact, the altar at St. Mary’s, with its statue of Mary Help of Christians, was erected as a memorial to Fr Therry’s name.

and of the Military Ordinariate

Almighty God, deepen in our hearts our love of Mary Help of Christians.

Through her prayers and under her protection, may the light of Christ shine over our land. May Australia be granted harmony, justice and peace.

Grant wisdom to our leaders and integrity to our citizens.

Bless especially the men and women of the Australian Defence Force and their families. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Mary Help of Christians, pray for us.

Reconciliation Week

This week is Reconciliation Week.  Students have learnt about Aboriginal Reconciliation in their class rooms and have participated in making a Reconciliation Tree in the courtyard.

Along with other Australians, our school is working to understand the issues effecting Aboriginal Australia and create a community that is accepting of all cultures.  We pray that the Holy Spirit will guide us to create a community that promotes acceptance and understanding and allows fairness for all.
