From the Principal

Welcome to Week 5

We have been fortunate to have successfully applied for a $25 000 grant from the Federal Government which allows us to purchase some new equipment for the school. The funds will be used to: purchase new outdoor furniture, air purifiers and upgrade the air conditioner in the current staffroom. This room will become a multi-purpose space once the new building is complete and the staff area moves into that space. We are grateful to the Labor Government for this investment and will certainly be putting the funds to good use.

The new building is taking shape with the steel work part of the project due for completion next Monday.  In the coming weeks, the builders' attention will turn to the demolition of the current toilet block. This space will be replaced with new toilets, new shade cover and a garden area. During the construction phase, students will have access to the toilets in the gym and in the upper primary space. There will be restricted access to the grounds for a period of time, with the gates near the gym closed. More information regarding access points will be distributed closer to the time they are put in place.

Keep a look out for students from our school on bus shelters or maybe even on a passing bus in the near future. The advertising is part of the annual Catholic Education Open Week. This year, our two ambassadors are Imogen and Daniel.

All the best to our year 5/6 basketball teams who are taking part in the Catholic North/Eastern Carnival next week. This is the second year of the event and it is great to have so many interested players, enough for 4 teams.

Congratulations to Miss Julie Jurkovic who has secured a full time position at another Catholic School as their term 3 Reception Teacher.  Julie has been part of our school community for many years, commencing as a student and concluding as the JP Performing Arts Teacher.  Many would know Julie as our OSHC Coordinator, a role she held before completing her teaching degree.  Julie will finish up at St Gabriel's at the end of this term.  We wish Julie all the very best.
