The Endangered Generation? – documentary screening in Victoria from 8 June

Monash University is proud to announce its role and contribution to the new documentary, The Endangered Generation? Produced by Sweetshop & Green and narrated by renowned actress and producer, Laura Dern, this award-winning and thought-provoking feature documentary offers eye-opening insights into the game-changing research conducted by Monash University’s world-leading academics. With a focus on critical global issues – including climate change, inequality, food security and species extinction – The Endangered Generation? shows how Monash academics are leading the way in discovering innovative solutions to our planet’s most pressing challenges. This documentary takes its audience on a hopeful journey to reconnect with the natural world and each other. It follows intrepid scientists, activists, artists and First Nations leaders from around the world as they rise to the global challenges of our time. Holmesglen FREE Sports Degree Summit – Saturday 17 June, 10am to 2pm

The Holmesglen Sports Degrees Summit will provide a first-hand look at the industry and degrees, with demonstrations, virtual experiences, and a chance to meet current students and lecturers. Open to prospective students currently studying Year 10−12 at Secondary School, with a passion for the sports industry and considering a degree or career in the field. Holmesglen offer two specialised degrees that are all about SPORT:

  • Bachelor of Sports Media (BSM20)
  • Bachelor of Sport Business (BSPB16)

Holmesglen are proud to have the one and only Craig Hutchison − Sports Entertainment Network’s most recognisable figure − as their special guest speaker at this event. He will share his valuable experience and insights into the sports industry, giving a taste of what it takes to succeed. Register here.

Monash Fine Art, Design & Architecture School holiday workshops – 27 and 28 June

Registrations are now open for the two MADA Experience Day workshops taking place in June during the school holidays. Year 10-12 students can explore their curiosity and creativity along with build their fine art folio or experience a mini-studio workshop for design and architecture. MADA workshops provide students with a hands-on experience, university taster and are free. Places are limited and registration is essential. Find out more and register here.

LCI Quick Lab 3: Finesse Your Folio – Wednesday 28 June, 10am to 4pm

Hi Careers, the ‘Finesse Your Folio’ session is running at their campus this June and LCI Melbourne are encouraging Year 11 and 12 students interested in a career in art and design to attend. This free session is designed to help students break down their work into a digital portfolio and display only the best elements. Students will learn what they need to include when applying to universities and how to develop their personal brand identity. They will learn from experts in the field about how to present and communicate their work, which is vital if they are wanting to enter a creative course or career after graduation. REMINDER: RMIT Early Offer program applications open for 2024

Are you a Year 12 student who has experience being a leader, working with different people, showcasing your creativity or making an impact in the tech world? Through RMIT’s Early Offer program your life experience outside the classroom can count towards your dream course, allowing you to be accepted on a lower ATAR. Interested students are to carefully read all the info provided by RMIT here taking note of the application processcourses available and FAQs which includes tips on applying (also see info provided in the 19 May Career Newsletter). Applications close 17 September 2023.Conditional offers will be released by 28 September 2023. The conditional offer will become unconditional should students complete Year 12, meet the course prerequisites, and attain the Early Offer ATAR required. Students must also add the RMIT early offer course to their VTAC course application (opens 31 July).

REMINDER: Swinburne 2024 Early Entry program open for applications

Swinburne's Early Entry program means you can apply to Swinburne early and ATAR-free. Swinburne encourages Year 12 students who want to be part of the next generation of change-makers and big-thinkers to apply. Applications close Monday 9 October 2023. Interested students are to carefully read all the information provided by Swinburne on their website here to find out how it works, theparticipating courses, and answers to FAQs (also see info provided in the 12 May Career Newsletter). Successful students will receive a conditional offer and the offer will become unconditional should students complete Year 12 and meet the course prerequisites. Students must also add the course they've chosen for their Early Entry program application to their VTAC course application (VTAC applications open 31 July)
