Term 2 Week 4 2023 - Friday 19th May

What have we been up to?

With swimming over we have all started Term 2 with an amazing positive attitude. All the students have settled back into our school routine and have shown great strength. We have had a couple of busy weeks with Leadership Day, Mother’s Day and welcomed our movie maker, Bruce, back and began to read our scripts for our school movies. Last week, the students did an amazing job participating in Leadership Day and we had quite a few students presenting or playing their musical instruments in front of the visitors. Well Done!

Over the last 2 weeks we have been on Narrative structure and explored different language features, such as, adjectives and nouns, to help describe our characters and setting. We wrote a joint narrative as a whole class to help us be prepared to do an independent narrative write next week. We continued making Predictions about Narrative texts using the title and front cover picture to help draw and write our predictions in our book.

Inquiry has allowed students to explore their own families and compare them to families in the past. This past week in science students have been learning about a wide range of materials and why they are used to certain objects.

Reading

Over the next fortnight the 1/2 students will be making connections between different types of texts. During independent reading students will continue to choose a book that is just right using our 5 finger rule.

Writing

In the next two weeks students will do an independent write of a Narrative story. Students will use a variety of nouns, adjectives and verbs to help them. Then we will move on to Procedure texts.

Maths

Students will continue learning about Addition and using a range of strategies to solve worded problems. Over the next two weeks, we will have a focus on using number lines and counting on to solve Addition problems.

Inquiry & Science

In Inquiry students will be looking at different families and how they have changed over the years. Science will allow students to continue to explore different materials in the world and what they are used for.
