ECSC Wellbeing Team

Student Wellbeing Coordinator

My name is Chantelle Gianinotti and I am the Student Wellbeing Coordinator at Edgars Creek Secondary College.

I have been at Edgars Creek since the very beginning and work with students and families regarding their wellbeing needs.

I am very excited to have Kathryn (Mental Health Practitioner) on board as part of the Edgars Creek Wellbeing Team.

As the wellbeing team, we will provide counselling and support to students, as well as their families, and advocate for students in their school and personal life, and provide wellbeing sessions in the classroom.

We have put together this newsletter for parents in regards to support services in the area and support services relating to COVID-19.

This has been the most challenging year we have faced and we hope this newsletter will be helpful for families for all your needs.

If you require further support for you or your child please feel free to contact the school on 9134 8200 or email me through Compass.

Stay safe and Take care!

Mental Health Practitioner

I’d like to introduce myself, I’m the newest member of the Wellbeing team, my name is Kathryn Wakeling & I’ve recently started working as the Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) at ECSC on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Friday’s.

I moved to Melbourne in 2010 from Sydney and quickly realized how important Victorians consider footy to be, so I chose to follow the Richmond Tigers. My interests include bush walks, dog training, basketball (Go Melbourne United) and Netflix.

My role is to provide counselling to students and to work with Chantelle on ECSC Wellbeing Activities. I am also available to answer your questions about mental health and Wellbeing. I’d love to hear from you, so please say hello when you see me around – or while we are doing remote learning, you can email me through Compass and we can arrange a time for me to have a chat.

I’ll end with a message from Headspace that I think is really important …

  • Remind yourself that there is no such thing as a PERFECT parent.
  • Eat well and drink plenty of water.
  • Get a good night’s sleep.
  • Make time every day to do something you enjoy.
  • Ask for help or support for yourself from family and friends, or your GP or counsellor.

When you look after yourself you have greater patience and can offer a more considered approach to helping a young person. One of the most effective ways to support a healthy headspace is to model healthy behaviours yourself. (https://headspace.org.au/dads/)

Below are links to resources we think families could find useful at this time. If there is something you need to address but you don’t know where to get help, ask us and hopefully we can point you in the right direction.
