What's happening in the Junior classrooms

The Juniors have been exploring the concept of Place and Space, under the Earth and

Space Unit of the Victorian Curriculum and Prayer, Liturgy and Sacraments of the Religious Education curriculum. In RE, they have been answering the question: What does prayer look like, sound like, feel like? During the unit on Place and Space, the children have been showing their understanding of the ways Catholics communicate with God by identifying different forms of prayer. They have been reflecting on formal and informal prayers and have composed and participated in different prayer experiences with their classmates and family members.

In Inquiry, the Prep children have been exploring the question, What’s happening outside?and the 1s and 2s’ theme is Whatever is the Weather? The children are investigating how daily and seasonal changes in our environment affect everyday life. They are learning about the different types of weather and seasons and how to record the weather. They are looking at various activities suited to different seasons and the appropriate clothing to wear. Most of them had finished reporting a particular season and are busy with the presentation.

Throughout the Wellbeing unit, the children have been identifying and describing how mistakes, failures and challenges are positive and help them learn new things. They now have an understanding of what a growth mindset is, the meaning of perseverance and the power of YET. The children made Perseverance posters with positive messages that encourage persistence and having a growth mindset.
