Learning Intentions

Learning at Holy Family School engages students by providing explicit teaching of the necessary skills and processes students need to be successful. This is done through contemporary practices that are differentiated and allow all students to succeed. Learning experiences also allow students to investigate and apply their knowledge to new and relevant situations.

Teachers use the Victorian Curriculum and Religious Education Framework to plan lessons, teach and assess students. For each lesson at Holy Family, learning intention is used to clearly describe  what the teacher wants the students to

  • know
  • be able to do; and
  • the dispositions needed to be successful learners

At Holy Family, we use the “KNOW, DO and BE framework for learning intentions to support students focus on what they will learn, rather than the activity they complete. The learning intentions are written on the board, or displayed on the screen during remote learning and shared with students at the beginning and throughout each lesson.
