Welcome to our School Newsletter for Week 7, Term 3.

You'll certainly notice something different about our school newsletter this fortnight!

We're trialing an online newsletter for the next two cycles, and you will be given a chance to share your feedback on the new format and its features. We've decided to try this new way of communicating with you, for a number of reasons:

  1. With the new online newsletter, parents, caregivers and community members can receive up-to-date information, straight to their inbox. No more searching through school bags!
  2. The scope of what we can share with you is now greater. You will see galleries of photographs from special events, rather than one or two, and even video clips of student activities and performances!

In the week 9 newsletter you will find a survey giving you the chance to provide feedback on whether the new way works for you, or if we should go back to the old way.

Schools are made up of buildings and ovals and basketball courts, but it's the people who really make our schools special places to be. We've had some changes to the faces you see around PHS of late, but things are starting to settle into some consistency for the remainder of 2020. The final step in this process is appointing an English teacher for year 9 and 10 to remain with us for the year. As soon as we have appointed someone, we'l share the news with you.

We recently received a letter from the Transport Services Unit, letting us know that the bus service to Peterborough High School is in question for 2021. The number of children from PHS, PPS and SJS who are utilising this service, and are entitled to, has significantly decreased. The loss of this service may have an impact on supporting some learners in getting to school. How do we retain our bus? We need to increase the number of children catching the school regularly to 10. This means 3-4 times a week, both morning and night. If you have questions about whether you qualify for this service or how to go about signing up, please contact us at PHS.

Along with our incredibly talented students, we also have some talented staff at PHS! We'd like to congratulate Miss Strali Vo on being selected as a Subject Marker for the SACE board. Strali will work this around her PHS teaching duties.

I have received some feedback from families over that last week, celebrating both our SACE Snapshots and our Year 8-10 Assessment Overviews. They shared that they appreciate the communication and the chance to support their children in meeting deadlines and achieving their goals. Thanks for the positive feedback!
