From the Principal

Thank you for letting us know
Earlier in the year with assistance from AIS (Association of Independent Schools) NSW a survey was sent to each family, to students, staff members and members of the school board to gain feedback about Moama Anglican Grammar. The survey asked questions about five domains; the school environment, teaching and learning, student wellbeing, leadership and community.
We received a 42% response rate from the parents which has given us very useful information, and we had 90% response rate from the students (only students from Year 5 to 12 were surveyed.) The survey report has been positive in all areas but has also highlighted some areas for attention. The information is extremely useful, and we value the feedback and will use this, as well as other information, to inform our future planning.
As a leadership group we have started to examine the report in detail and identify areas of strength and opportunities for growth. We will share this information with the staff and work together to maintain our commitment in areas of strength and also to find ways to improve other experiences for everyone in the community.
It was wonderful to see that our students, parents and staff responded that they appreciate and value the wonderful physical environment of the school, the commitment to our vision and mission, respectful relationships, inclusivity and equity, communication, reporting and reputation. Within each of these areas there continues to be elements for further growth which we will build on.
The areas of opportunity and development included the desire from all groups to see an improvement in the development of social and emotional skills, for learning to be more future focused, and for greater understanding of teaching, learning and assessment for the range of students in classes. Our teaching staff also expressed the desire to see coaching and mentoring used more to support their career development. These areas for growth and opportunity also dove-tail with the goals for our strategic plan.
All participants were given the opportunity to make comments and offer more information at the end of the survey. This material has been collated and provided to the school. Some parents made the comment that they responded to the survey, as instructed, for the child whose birthday was closest but the experiences of the children in the family were quite different. We will consider ways to capture this additional information also. We have also started to look at the information and recurring themes in these responses.
We intend to repeat these surveys with the assistance of AIS in the future. However, we appreciate feedback at any stage and parents are always welcome to send through information about our strengths and weaknesses or suggestions for alternatives. While I cannot guarantee we can act on all suggestions, I am always open to discussing and thinking about ways to grow and develop all aspects of the school.
