Sleep at the G Fundraiser

Otto is a grade four student in Miss Morgan's class. Next Thursday, Otto and his mum, Barbara, are taking part in the Sleep At The 'G event. This is an annual fundraising event to raise money for youth homelessness run by Melbourne City Mission.

Every night in Victoria, there are more than 6,000 young people experiencing homelessness. With only 127 emergency and crisis beds for young people in Victoria, Melbourne City Mission works to end youth homelessness. Without appropriate interventions, young people can become further entrenched in long-term homelessness and poverty.

Barbara says "Due coronavirus, this year the event is looking very different. So that we don't miss out on the MCG experience, we have built a mini MCG light tower and will be sleeping in our front garden."

Otto would love the OGPS community to get behind the event and sponsor him and his mum and help raise money for young people who are homeless, because right now, having a home is very important.  Young homeless people cannot self-isolate when they have nowhere to go.
