2018 Walk for Justice for Refugees
The 2018 Walk for Justice for Refugees will be taking place throughout Australia on Palm Sunday (25 March). People from all faith groups, community organisations and the general public will join the Palm Sunday Walk, bringing banners and other messages of support in solidarity with refugees and people seeking asylum.
In recent years, thousands of people, including those representing the Catholic Alliance for People Seeking Asylum, have attended the Walk. It’s important that we keep up this momentum to demonstrate the growing concern across the community about the harsh and punitive treatment of refugees and asylum seekers.
Slavery Free Chocolate for Easter
Pope Francis said that “every person ought to have the awareness that purchasing is always a moral – and not simply an economic – act.”
Are you buying and eating, or giving away Easter chocolate this year? It is estimated that up to 30 million people are trapped in slavery globally. The United Nations estimates that one in every three victims of human trafficking is a child. Much of the chocolate we consume in Australia is made with cocoa beans picked by children, many of whom have been enslaved. These children don’t even know what the cocoa beans are used for and they won’t ever get to taste chocolate.
Take Action

Look for these symbols to ensure your chocolate is slavery-free.
