Farewell to Our French Exchange Students
As the bus departed, our eyes filled with tears of sadness as we bid farewell to our exchange group from Notre Dame de Sion on the evening of Thursday 1 March. The French Exchange group from our sister school Notre Dame de Sion in Marseille was with us for two weeks, getting to know our beautiful state and learning about our culture.
During their time here, they thoroughly enjoyed visiting places such as Perth city, AQWA and Rottnest. When asked, the students replied that their most memorable experiences were the special time spent with their host families, their visit to Caversham, and the excursion to Fremantle, which they shared with our Year 10 French students.
As for their days at our College, the students said they were most impressed with the lessons they received. They made boomerangs in Woodwork, then painted them after learning about Aboriginal art. They gained a better understanding of our heritage through an awesome history lesson and an enjoyable AFL lesson. Last, but not least, they expanded their English skills in shared French-English classes and by accompanying their hosts to classes.
We would like to express our deep gratitude to all the teachers involved in the program and acknowledge their fantastic work. We would also like to acknowledge everyone who in one way or another helped the French Exchange students and their teachers as sometimes it is these little things that make the French Exchange a great success.
Our heartfelt gratitude to the host families for supporting our visitors from France and ensuring that they had a comfortable, enjoyable and engaging stay.
Thank you to Mme Lucas for coordinating the Notre Dame de Sion Exchange for 2018. Her hard work, meticulous planning and energy have made this exchange successful. Merci bien!
