Principal's Report

14th June 2019

WHPS Film Festival

On behalf of our students and teachers I would like to invite you to the inaugural WHPS Film Festival on Thursday 27th June. As part of the Media Arts unit students have been studying this term, students have been writing, directing, editing and filming their own short films, comics, stop motion animations and movie trailers. We would love to see as many parents, grandparents and friends of the school here as possible to view and celebrate our students wonderful learning and work. Further details are on the flyer below which will also be sent home with each family.

Student Reports

Teachers are currently finalising Semester 1 student reports. These will be available to download from Compass after school on Wednesday 26th June. The next Parent / Teacher Interviews will be in the last week of Term 3 to discuss student progress in Semester 2 and goals for the rest of the year. If you wish to discuss the Semester 1 student report with your child's teacher, please make an appointment with them early in Term 3.

Parents' Association and Disco

The annual WHPS disco run by the Parents' Association is coming up next Friday 21st June. Please check Compass for tickets and details.  I am very appreciate of the ongoing fundraising work the Parent's Association have been involved in this year as well organising community and year level events. This year the Parent's Association have decided to use the money raised from fundraising to purchase additional seating and benches for our students to be placed around the school. We hope to have these ordered and installed by the end of the year.

Pick Up and Drop Off Times

A reminder that student supervision starts in the school yard at 8:45am and finishes after school at 3:45pm. Outside of these times there is no supervision and students should not be dropped off early or left unsupervised late. If you are experiencing difficulty collecting students by 3.30pm, or are dropping off your child early, we strongly encourage you to enrol your child in our quality OSHC program. Please see Sharyn Veale, Pete Osmond or the office if you wish to enrol at OSHC.  Registration is free and enables you to access the program if required.

Library Reading Club

Reading Club is held every morning in the library from 8:30-8:50am. It is a great opportunity to read with your child and encourage their love of books and literacy. Just a reminder that parents or carers are expected to attend reading club with their children and be present in the library with them. This is a wonderful way to start the school day with your child.

Prep Enrolments 2020 - Final Reminder

Prep Enrolments for 2020 are now being finalised. If you received a letter of offer for a place in 2020 please return it to the office ASAP.

Tax Time and Voluntary Contributions

Thank you to the many families who have donated to the Building and Library Funds this year. Donations to these funds are ATO approved and are tax deductible.

Library Fund:  Library Fund contributions are used to purchase fiction, non-fiction, electronic resources and other resources for the Library and Literacy Programs, program reference materials, and class sets of readers.

Building Fund:  Funds are used to maintain the school buildings and improvements to the school grounds for the students.

It’s not too late to make a contribution before the end of the financial year and I encourage you to do so if you are able to support our school and students.

WHPS Annual Report and Policies

Each year the school completes an annual report that details information and progress about the school. The annual report can be found in Compass under the School Documentation Tab. A wide range of school policies and other resources for parents can be found here as well.

Save the Date - Art Around the World

Just a reminder the exciting art show "Art Around the World" will be next term on Thursday 12th September. We would love to see as many students, parents, grandparents, family and friends of the school there as possible to view all the wonderful art our students have produced over the year. More details to come in Term 3.

End of Term 2

Term 2 ends on Friday 28th June at 2:30pm. Please note the earlier finish time. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school for Term 3 on Monday 15th July.
