2016 KINGSTON ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Following on from the success of the school carnival, on Thursday 1 September, 107 students descended on Duncan Mackinnon Reserve to represent the school at the Kingston Division Athletics Championships.
It was a real team effort, with McKinnon placing on the podium in nearly all the events on the day. Out of the 107 students competing, 57 have successfully qualified to represent the district at the Southern Metropolitan Regional Finals in October. The team also brought home the pennants for Junior, Intermediate and Senior Girls and Boys, and the overall team pennant. We also had a number of students who won the age group champions. These were: Lucas Thompson, Yotam Kimchi, Skyler Kah, Nick Rayson, Genevieve O’Brien and Sian O’Leary.
Good luck to all the students competing in Southern Metropolitan Region. This is our biggest squad ever representing the school. An amazing achievement!

BOYS INTERMEDIATE NETBALL
The Boys Intermediate Netball team took to the court at the State Netball and Hockey Centre for the Netball Victoria School Championship State Finals. The boys would play against catholic, independent and state schools across the day.
The boys fought hard all day, showing some excellent netball skills despite only learning the game this year. Tim Mullane tried hard all day in centre and Jackson Hannah showed plenty of talent at goal shooter. Jack Richardson, stand in captain, was pleased with the effort from the boys.
Unfortunately, we just missed the finals by percentage after beating Melbourne High and Flinders College.

YEAR 7 BOYS BADMINTON STATE FINALISTS
Congratulations to Michael Gershenzon, Dylan MacGregor, Haans Dinu, Terry Tian, Stephan Mitzeliotis and Liam Chui who played in the School Sport Victoria State Finals recently. After convincingly beating the Kingston Division schools the boys advanced to the Southern Metropolitan Regional Finals at Springers, Cheltenham and won the Southern Metropolitan Region Title by beating Keysborough and Glen Eira College.
The top eight schools all met at MSAC to play off for the State Title. The boys beat Trafalgar Secondary College but found their pool to be very strong with both Balwyn and Maribynong Secondary College in Pool B. These two schools played off for the State Title.
Well done to all the boys who were great ambassadors for the college. Thank you to Mrs Hooper, Mr Braniska and Mr Munro who were of great support with their coaching.
