SRC News

Congratulations to our Year Seven SRC Representatives who are proactive in making a difference to MCC. Our thee students, Dylan, Angus and Brianna have been active in their involvement to be the voice of their cohort and acting on issues raised; as well as contributing to the VicSRC Teach The Teacher program and community fund raising events. Overall, their enthusiasm for their commitment to their SRC roles has been inspiring.

CONGRATULATIONS TO DYLAN ALLAN (Year 7) AND CAITLYN TAYLOR (Year 11) WHO ATTENDED THIS YEARS VicSRC CONGESS CAMP. Here is what Dylan Allan has to say about this wonderful opportunity.

FROM DYLAN ALLAN

During the last school holidays I had the opportunity to attend Vic SRC, congress, which is an event where students from all across Victoria come together in one place to give a voice to the student community.

We stayed at Ormond College, Melbourne University in Parkville for three days and two nights. On the first day of congress all students were asked to pick an action group to be a part of. Each group had to brainstorm a topic that they wanted to present to the 2017-2018 executives to focus on for the remainder of 2018 and into 2019. The group I was a part of wanted to focus on transparency within the school system.

The second day we practiced pitching our ideas to the executive team. We were then asked to get together in our groups and reflect on the feedback we were given. Later in the day we chose a work hop to participate in. I attended the jam session. In the evening we had the one night four decades gala dinner. I dressed up as Tom Cruise (Maverick) from top gun.

Day three we had our opening morning where we got into our action groups and gave a two, minute speech about our topics. We all voted on the topic we thought was most important.

Overall congress was a fantastic opportunity for students across Victoria to have a voice about not only issues relating to education, but many other social issues students face in their every day lives. I feel very privileged to have been given the opportunity to attend. I would like to take this opportunity to thank both, Mrs Corrie, and Mr Ferra, for encouraging me to attend this great event.
