VTAC applications

Victorian Tertiary Admission Centre (VTAC) applications to tertiary institutions opened on Monday 6th August. The closing date for timely applications through VTAC is 5.00pm on Thursday 27th September. It is important to note that this date falls during the school holidays.

 

To support Year 12 students with this process:

-Each student has been issued with a VTAC Guide.

-On 8th August Access Monash, during MAP study space gave a very informative presentation to the year 12 VCE students –

VTAC course application advice

Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS)  

Monash Guarantee entry scheme

Supporting documentation

Scholarship applications

Costs of university  

Pathway options, including Monash pathways

Deferral (for those considering a gap year or who are unsure about their plans)

Financial matters.

 

Following the presentation students were supported in registering  for their VTAC accounts.

I encourage parents/guardians to discuss with your year 12 student their aspirations and suggest that a carefully considered back up plan is also made.

A fee of $36 is charged to lodge an application (plus additional fees for auditions).

 

It is vital that students ensure that they have met all prerequisites and requirements for each course to be considered for the course.

 

Information about Special Entry Access Schemes (SEAS) can be accessed on the VTAC website. This is available for students who have experienced educational disadvantage and have been unable to reach their full academic potential or who have experienced circumstances that have had an adverse impact on their final years of schooling.

All students are advised to apply for category 1:

All SEAS applications for categories 3 and 5 require supporting documentation and students are advised to start this process as soon as possible.

Category 1: Personal information and location. This category includes age, living or school location, under-representation of a particular gender in a course or field of study, recognition as an Indigenous Australian, recognition for being from a non-English speaking background and recognition for being the first in your family to attend tertiary study.

Category 2: Disadvantaged financial background

Category 3: Disability or medical condition

Category 4: Difficult circumstances

 

SEAS applications and scholarships closing date including all supporting documentation is 5.00 pm on Friday 12th October.

 

Students who have suffered financial or other hardships can apply for Access and Equity Scholarships.

For information about merit scholarships please consult the websites of all institutions to which your year 12 student intends to apply. Closing dates differ.

October Practice exams

All students undertaking Unit 3 /4 studies this year, including those in year 11 are required to attend compulsory practice exams during the 2nd week of the school holidays 1st-4th October. Information about the exams was in the previous COG

Senior Formal 

Senior formal tickets selling fast. A reminder the final date to purchase tickets is 20th August.

Teenagers Road Accident Group 

TRAG have been providing road trauma presentations to Secondary  Colleges on and around the Mornington Peninsula since 1999, and is widely acknowledged as an integral part of the local resources to reduce incidences of road trauma in the 15 – 25 age group, the most vulnerable age group in our community.

McClelland College Year 12 VCE students attended the TRAG presentation on  Tuesday 26th June, 9.30 -11.15pm
