Number Intervention

Our Number Intervention programme for 2018 has come to an end, with some fabulous improvements noted amongst our students.  A large number of students are supported by our Learning Support Officers and volunteer parents.  Each of the students who has received support has demonstrated considerable improvement in confidence and skills in Number, and I thank our dedicated LSOs and wonderful parent group for your ongoing commitment to this important aspect of our school’s vision.

Over the past semester, six Year 2 students have completed approximately forty lessons with me in an intensive programme aimed at increasing skills and confidence in Number. In each of the focus areas of number word sequences, structuring numbers 0-20 and conceptual place value, each of these students has demonstrated growth of between six months and three years. Huge congratulations to Amber, Will, Lehara, Amalie, Wendy and Luca. You have worked very hard and should be extremely proud of your efforts. 

We look forward to working with students from across the school next year.  Based on ongoing, targeted assessment, students will be supported in specific areas of Number for five-week blocks. Intervention will target specific areas of need.  Learning Support Officers, volunteer parents and myself will work with students to increase their growth and help them to reach specific goals.

I am extremely grateful for the dedication and enthusiasm of the wonderful parents/grandparents who have joined our Number Intervention Parent Helper programme.
