LANGUAGE CENTRE

Food Tech

Students in the Language Centre are developing their English skills in a variety of ways – including through cooking.

They have enjoyed their Friday afternoons in the kitchen.

Here are their responses to their latest Foods sessions.

It's so good, this food is so easy and delicious! I like it! Pari

I've been learning to cook for 3 weeks and I find it very enjoyable. He taught me how to make scrambled eggs and Hawaiian muffins. He showed me in great detail. After we finished our product, we also enjoyed our own product. Then everyone cleans up together. I hope to be able to cook better in the future so that I can make more delicious food. Jesse

I made Hawaiian muffin. It's so delicious. Because It's sweet and salty. I love Hawaiian muffin. I want to try making it in my home!! Juri

I have learned two dishes. One is an omelette and the other is a Hawaiian muffin. They are very delicious and I really love cooking. Angelina

I’ve learned about food for 3 weeks and I feel it’s so interesting and it helps me to understand more about how to cook. Bryan

Sport

Student from the Language Centre have been invited to join Ms Merkel’s Year 10 Sports Coaching class, along with Ms Hemphill’s EHELS Year 8 class.

They have participated in two tennis coaching sessions, where the year 10 students followed their well-designed lesson plans, teaching a range of skills. They will be continuing to be coached over the next four weeks in cricket and volleyball.

This has been an excellent experience for the LC students, as it introduces them to a range of sports and enables them to meet new students. They also have the opportunity to practise their English speaking and listening.
