Class 1 Steiner

Celebrating Learning

Our first excursion for the year happened recently on Wednesday the 22nd of March. We travelled with the prep classes to the State Hockey and Netball Centre. The students participated in games, fun ball skills and drills run by Netball Victoria. Everyone had their best go and we were so proud of how the students represented our school while having a great time!

Over the past couple of weeks, we have been focusing on data collection in maths. The students have been asking and answering simple questions to collect data from their peers in the form of tally marks. We have been graphing data as a whole class and have been discussing our findings. We have also been exploring patterns with students creating their own repeating patterns with blocks, beads and natural materials.

In our main lessons we recently read the fairy tales Hansel and Gretal and Puss in Boots. Students have been responding to the texts through illustrations, verbal retells, writing and with performances.

Our students are also so happy to have their own chair bags and crayon rolls now and we want to say a huge thank you to the parents who helped organise and create these for the class.
