Class 5/6 Steiner–Celebrating Learning

Ancient India and our own deities.

Following Geology, we have dived into the stories of Ancient India and have enjoyed the mythology of this period of time. From hearing about Brahmins (holy people) and their time spent in forests in prayer, to strong and powerful warriors and kings who waged war, but showed great loyalty to their word. Students have been illustrating and writing about these stories in their own way. To link our studies of Geology with Ancient India the students also created their own Ancient Indian deities that cause natural disasters for a myriad of reasons, with motivations from destruction, rebirth, to help teach, or even technically to protect. Below are some thoughts from the students and images of both Ancient India stories, as well as their designs of Ancient Indian deities.

Lexi says “It was really inspiring to hear about different cultures and the way they did things and still do them today. It was also really fun making our own god. The stories were really interesting too”.

Toby says “It was a good and interesting Main Lesson and I liked that we could make our own gods.”.

Mayla says “It was interesting and fun, as well as boring, but I don’t like writing.”.

Alexis says “I really enjoyed it, it was lots of fun and I liked making all of my drawings.”.

Ava says “I really liked all the drawings we did, the writing was fun and the stories were really interesting.”.

Teresa says “I really liked all the patterns and shapes we made related to Ancient India. I really liked how we got to make our own deity, that was really cool and fun”.
