Maths Learning Community Groups

The Junior Community has been participating in Fluid Maths groups this term, targeted at student next point in learning. Our students have been exposed to a range of counting strategies such as rote counting and skip counting through game play, listening to and singing counting songs as well as physical movement. There has been a buzz in our classrooms as students use playdoh, bundling sticks, unifix blocks and other mate to build on their place value skills by representing numbers using different materials. Our Fluid Maths groups allow students to interact with peers from other classes, which strengthens the sense of community as they all learn, play and grow together.

2D and 3D Shapes

Shapes, shapes and more shapes! Using playdoh, toothpicks and icypole sticks, students in the Junior Learning Community have been making and describing the features of 2D shapes and 3D objects. Students also explored how these shapes are connected to geographical features within and outside our school community.
