It has been an exciting fortnight at the Springs with the Year 3-6 students being able to attend athletics on a beautiful day. It was fabulous to see the students excited and participating. Thank you to our families who were able to attend and support the students as well as help on the field. A huge thank you to Scott Holmes, Kate Bucknell and the team for organising the day.
There is always lots to keep up with at school but please take note of the newly approved student-free days for 2023:
We still have 2 more Curriculum Days to plan in 2023 and will advise these dates as soon as they are available.
Please keep an eye on theimportant events page of each newsletter to keep up to date.
Our ballot closed on Wednesday and I am delighted to welcome Vanessa Mercan, Michael Whiting, Kimberley Dowel, Taryn La Greca and Melissa Massey to the 2023 School Council. Our first meeting of the new School Council is on Tuesday 14th March.
This year the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy will take place in Term 1 commencing on March 15th. We are currently completing school readiness testing to ensure our IT system can cater for it smoothly. This is an opportunity to see how students are tracking and importantly for the school, to receive data on where we are doing well and where we can focus on improving. It is, however, just a snapshot and we continue to monitor and assess learning daily through many forms of assessment to ensure we are teaching at students' point of need.
Each year our staff pair up with Year 6 students to add an extra layer of support as they work through their final year of primary school. Each term we hold a breakfast with our buddies. Last week we enjoyed pancakes together.
Book Fair is always a hit with families and is arriving on Wednesday 15th March 2023. The library will be set up with bargains from Scholastic for students and families to browse and purchase. This is a great opportunity to get organised for any upcoming birthday presents or just encourage your children to read quality books. The opening times will be available soon.
We encourage all parents to have a chat with their child/ren about wearing our uniform with pride. A reminder that hair colour should be 'natural' and jewellery should be minimal under our dress code regulations. A SunSmart Hat (broad-brimmed or legionnaire style) is mandatory for all students during Term 1 and Term 4. Students without a hat will be directed to sit in an undercover area during break times.
Our Prep students have completed their transition to school and start full-time next week. We look forward to seeing them all on Wednesdays.
Next Friday you will receive Easter raffle tickets, we encourage you to get involved and hopefully purchase one of the winning tickets.
We wish our Year 6 students and staff a wonderful time at camp next week. We look forward to many wonderful experiences and memories being made.
We are very much looking forward to a busy and productive fortnight ahead, take care.
