Catholic Education Week

Schools all around Victoria are celebrating Catholic Education Week.

This coming week, as a school, we will celebrate what makes us unique and identify the qualities and strengths of being members of the St Raphael community.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Our congratulations to the newly Confirmed students and their families. We would like to thank Bishop Terry Curtin and Fr Simon Granger for presidingover this important Sacramental Celebration. We would also like to thank Damian Howard and the staff for their commitment and dedication to ensuring the Sacrament proceeded with great reverence and grace. May the Holy Spirit guide and protect our children each and every day. We ask that you continue to keep the newly Confirmed in your prayers.

First Eucharist Celebration

Last Sunday, over 40 students received the Sacrament of First Eucharist. We extend an enormous thank you to all involved in making this occasion happen. In particular, we would like to thank the Communion Communicants for remaining hopeful and centred during this Sacramental journey. The journey of explicit teaching for the Sacrament of First Eucharist first began back in Term 4 of 2020. Throughout this time and given all the restrictions and sudden changes the children remained focused and committed.

To all students and families, take the time and reflect on the scripture passage and the artwork provided recalling the narrative of the Lord's Supper.

Luke: 22: 14-23

The Institution of the Lord’s Supper

14 When the hour came, he took his place at the table, and the apostles with him. 15 He said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; 16 for I tell you, I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; 18 for I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 Then he took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 And he did the same with the cup after supper, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. 21 But see, the one who betrays me is with me, and his hand is on the table. 22 For the Son of Man is going as it has been determined, but woe to that one by whom he is betrayed!” 23 Then they began to ask one another which one of them it could be who would do this.

We ask that you continue to keep the newly Confirmed and the First Eucharist students in your prayers each and every day.

Be More- Project Compassion

Across the six weeks of Lent, stories of resilient souls trying to ‘be more’ for their families and communities are shared. These inspiring tales demonstrate how your generosity makes a difference. So we please ask that you give and fill the project compassion box during this lenten season. This week we share a story from:

PROJECT COMPASSION AN AUSTRALIAN ICON

For over 50 years, generations of Australians have participated in Project Compassion. Watch the story.
